LCD, TFT and PLASMA

One area of purchasing a digital imaging system that seems to generate a big “SIGH” from the imaging supplier and a problem for you the dentist is the addition of extra screens.  The need to have more than one screen in a surgery is no longer considered a luxury it has become a necessity.  With more and more practices in the UK moving from NHS to private, patients are demanding something for their money.  Ceiling or wall mounted monitors, TV’s and Plasma screens are fast becoming an integral part of a dental surgery.

Many of the imaging suppliers are either very reluctant or refuse to get involved in fitting additional screens.  Why spend many thousands of pounds on purchasing an imaging solution only for it to become a chore for you to use daily.  I hear many moans and groans from dentists regarding how they are unable to use their imaging system to it's full potential because they are unable to see the image correctly, this largely being due to the PC screen being located in a NON ideal position I.E. normally behind you.

A second screen will not only benefit you in using your imaging equipment it will also give your practice an extra level of patient comfort.  The majority of intra-oral cameras can be configured to display in FULL screen mode, no more small 640x480 windows.  The same screen acts a a clone of your existing PC display, allowing you to discuss treatment plans with the patient still in the chair.  With the addition of an inexpensive DVD player this gives you a plethora of options to aid in diagnosis and making the trip to the dentist a more enjoyable and relaxing experience.
